Warning issued to holidaymakers travelling to World Cup
Posted by Mark Cunningham
People planning to make the trip over to South Africa to watch the World Cup have been issued a warning.
Sainsbury's Travel Money noted that many consumers are unaware that there is a limit of entry to the country of 5,000 SA rand (£445).
This is the amount that can be taken in or out of the nation, it pointed out.
Those who do not know that run the risk of having cash confiscated from them, the financial services provider said.
Of those polled by the firm, 20 per cent revealed they intended to take more than £1,000 worth of rand with them.
Head of Sainsbury's Travel Money Scott Gorman said: "Our research shows that thousands of people may be taken by surprise at the currency import restrictions in place when entering South Africa."
The tournament is set to get underway on June 11th and will run for a month.
