Why Britain's northern seaside towns could prove a hit with home buyers
Those looking to buy a house that maintains a high value for the long-term could be well-advised to invest in seaside towns across Yorkshire and Scotland.
This is because Halifax has identified some of the locations where purchasers can enjoy a good standard of living at an affordable price.
It cited destinations such as Bridlington, Withernsea and Hornsea in the East Riding of Yorkshire among the parts of the country where homeowners can pay less and get more.
Furthermore, Sandbanks was top of the charts in terms of the priciest seaside location to live, meaning that it scored less well on the index, despite its high quality of life.
Nitesh Patel, housing economist at Halifax, commented: "Our research demonstrates that for homebuyers who dream of being beside the seaside, there are good value hotspots where you don't compromise on the standard of living."
Meanwhile, the Council of Mortgage Lenders recently reported that house purchase lending went up by 19 per cent in June compared with the previous month.
