Workers 'becoming aware of employment rights'
Posted by Richard Saunders
More UK workers are becoming aware of their employment rights as this information has become easier to find in recent years, it has been claimed.
Employment solicitor Paul Quinn stated that it is taking less effort than it did in the past for people to find out about their employment rights and this is leading to many Brits becoming empowered to take on their employer if they feel they have been treated unfairly.
He commented: "With the rise in redundancy claims, I think it will give a rise to other tribunal claims as well. Last year saw the highest redundancy tribunal claims that were brought; that can only increase."
The Telegraph recently published advice for anyone who has recently been made redundant.
People should check their employer has followed the rules around redundancy correctly and find out about contracts and pension rights. Furthermore, Brits should refrain from making any verbal agreements.
