Workers 'will benefit from Equality Bill'
Employees will see benefits to their working environments as a result of the Equality Bill, it has been claimed.
Writing for the BBC, legal expert Amy Richardson suggested that the legislation - which was introduced in the House of Commons on April 24th this year and is due to come into force in October 2010 - will lessen the risk of unfair treatment.
She predicted that it will have a greater impact on smaller organisations as they are less likely to have comprehensive anti-discrimination and harassment policies in place presently.
Ms Richardson pointed out that the laws will promote equality and reduce discrimination in companies.
In addition, it will help tackle the gender pay gap and consolidate existing laws on sex, race, disability, sexual orientation, religion or belief and age.
She commented: "Whilst [it] will mean extra work, once in force it should ensure that both employers and employees benefit from a fairer and more transparent workplace."
