Working parents 'now have more choice over childcare'
Posted by Emily Jones
Parents in the UK now have more choice about how they balance childcare and work responsibilities, it has been suggested.
According to Julius Hinks, director of communications at Families Need Fathers, there are a greater number of options available to families these days.
He noted that men are adopting a more active role in the rearing of youngsters.
The expert stated: "Dad's are taking a greater and greater role in the day-to-day upbringing of their children and women are given a greater chance to thrive in the workplace."
His comments follow the release of research conducted by Aviva, which suggested that there has been a tenfold rise in the number of stay-at-home fathers in Britain.
It suggested that the main reason for this was often that mothers were the main breadwinners in households.
This meant it made financial sense for them to remain in employment while their partners gave up work.
