Workplace bullying victim secures compensation

Ylr-news-19245615

A man who was subjected to workplace bullying has been successful at an employment tribunal.

Andrew Beck is to receive compensation after claims that he was subjected to unfair treatment while operating as a golf club green keeper at Davyhulme Park club were upheld, the Manchester Evening News reports.

The 44-year-old has Asperger's Syndrome - which can cause difficulties in forming social relationships, communication problems and a lack of imagination - and he has learning difficulties.

Mr Beck claimed that his duties involved an unfair amount of heavy work compared with other green keepers.

In addition, he was told to wear highly visible clothing and red cap to distinguish him from other staff and to alert golfers as to his location.

He resigned from his post in 2006 because of continuing pressure and its impact on his health.

The amount he will receive is to be decided upon at a further hearing next month.
