Xl Leisure Collapse: What Are My Rights?

News-no-image-original

Following the collapse of the XL leisure group, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has set up a helpline for people worried about future holidays booked with company. If this applies to you, call 0870 5900927.

Many of those who booked a package holiday will be covered by the ATOL consumer protection scheme. In addition, if you paid for your booking with any credit card or Visa debit card you will be covered by card company.

XL Leisure had a number of different brand names and your level of protection will depend on the brand you booked under.

If you booked an air inclusive package or charter flight with any of the following, you will be protected by ATOL:

If you booked directly with XL Airways (that means you will have a flight number starting XLA ) or if you only booked accommodation with Medlife, you will NOT be protected by ATOL.

The French and German arms of XL are not affected by the failure (flight numbers starting XLF or GXL).

For more information, see the information on the ATOL website.

For more information about your holiday and flight rights, see the pages under the consumer section of Your Legal Rights.
