Year-round saving 'sensible ahead of Christmas'
Posted by Francesca Witney
Consumers should strive to put money aside throughout the year in order to pay for Christmas.
That is according to Andrew Hagger, spokesman for online resource Moneynet, who believes being prudent and planning ahead to cover the cost of the festive period is the best method of avoiding the issue of falling into debt.
Mr Hagger noted that saving a little on a regular basis during the first ten months of the year will mean people do not have to then resort to using their credit card to pay for goods in November and December.
The expert indicated this would be a "sensible option", as such a strategy should prevent Christmas from having a negative long-term impact on a family's financial situation.
Last week (December 10th), Santander published research revealing that Britons intend to withdraw more than £6 million from their savings to afford their hefty festive expenses this year.
